The MPOD

2 years on from OQ62’s feature on the Macuscope, a team at the Department
of Optometry and Neuroscience at the University of Manchester have now
recently developed a new device called the MPOD, which aims to identify
those potentially at risk from Age Related Macular Degeneration by assessing
their level of macular pigmentation. Olivia Howells, a Clinical demonstrator at
Aston University, discusses the MPOD and its benefits with Dr Ian Murray,
whose research contributed to the development of the device. Philip Morgan
also discusses the use of the device with Steven Harris, a
community Optometrist in West Wickham, Kent.
