About CET

Continuing Education and Training (CET) is a statutory requirement for all fully-qualified optometrists.

The mandatory CET scheme is overseen by the General Optical Council (GOC) and is a points-based scheme running over a three-year cycle.

The current CET cycle runs from 1st January 2010 to 31st December 2012 and full GOC registrants need to earn the minimum number of CET points by 31st December 2012 in order to be able to renew their registration in 2013.

The next CET cycle will run from 1st January 2013 to 31st December 2015, and the GOC is introducing some changes to mandatory requirements for the new cycle.

You can find full details about the mandatory CET scheme, how it works and more about future changes to the scheme via the GOC’s website:

The CET points scheme is administered on behalf of the GOC by Vantage Technologies, via the dedicated CET website: www.cetoptics.com

Optometrists registered with the GOC in the UK can manage and maintain their record of completed CET points via the cetoptics site: www.cetoptics.com
